Not much to say.
-Spily might as well have been a pitcher up to bat. Oops, eh?
-TGFH (Thank God For Holliday) or that would have been another embarrassing game; of course him getting picked off almost exed out any good he did for the night, especially since his hit to get on was a key momentum-shifting thing in that 8th inning. Oops, eh?
-Home ump was different tonight though still extremely inconsistent and forced Jimenez to layup meatballs on too many occasions, including the one which gave the go-ahead RBI to Lowell.
-Did Rockies management jinx their own team with the ticket-fiasco????? Hope not.
-Are these 2 losses going to clear the Rockies bandwagon created only a month ago???? Hope so.
-Will the Rockies' bats return to Coors???? Hope so. Stats still say the whole team's in a slump but due to breakout for at least a couple games. After watching these guys since Spring Training I can tell you that I've never seen this ugly of a slump.
-Will Fogg's magic work again???? Hope so.

We'll scream and holler and cheer and root our team to two victories this weekend, and then we have a three-game playoff. That's the plan.
I personally think they yoinked Jimenez too soon, but in a 2-1 game, who's to say? Actually, I think they yoinked the wrong player!
One thing that bugged me was when Jimenez was facing Ramirez with two outs after walking Ortiz in the fifth. His change ups were really confounding Ramirez -- a good catcher would have immediately noticed -- and then Jimenez threw an inside fastball which Ramirez fouled off. So what did Torrealba call for? ANOTHER fast ball inside, which Ramirez hit to left for a single. Then Jimenez is facing Lowell, mixes it up, then throws an inside slider which Lowell fouls off. What does Torrealba call for? ANOTHER inside slider, which Lowell hits to deep left for a double and the go-ahead and eventual winning run. The coach yoinks Jimenez when really he needed to scold Torrealba.
Have you ever seen a coach go out to congratulate a pitcher for pitching perfect pitches asked for by a catcher, and then slap the stupid catcher silly or yoink him out of the game instead?
Jimenez wasn't doing badly at that point. Matter of fact, he was pitching as good or better than when he started. He just wasn't second-guessing or shaking off boneheaded calls by his catcher. As much as I like Torrealba, I blame him for those two game-losing at-bats.
The relief pitchers scared me to death and kept getting into trouble but fighting their way out, buying their offense time to win the game. But the Rockies had no offense... except for Holliday, who giveth and taketh away all by his boneheaded self.
I really thought Helton's Career Moment had arrived in the 8th. I'll never forget that. I hope I don't have to think of that as Holliday's Bill Buckner Moment...
